The redevelopment of the Cambridge Country Manor Long Term Care Facility was officially announced today during a news conference at their Speedsville Road building. MPP Kathryn McGarry announced the redevelopment which will bring the existing building up to current Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care design requirements and provide new expanded facilities.
Phase 1 of the redevelopment involves the construction of a 50,000 square foot building expansion and will provide 64 single resident rooms, lounge and activity spaces, staff break and education areas, and new kitchen and laundry service spaces. Phase 2 involves the renovation and upgrading of the existing building to house 31 residents in full compliance with the new Ministry of Health standards.
James Fryett Architect Inc. has been working with Caressant Care Nursing and Retirement Homes Ltd. on the designs for both the expansion and the renovation. Submission has been made to the City of Cambridge for Site Plan Approval. Tender for construction is scheduled for January 2017.
