After many years of debate, The City of Guelph Council has approved a major scheme to provide much needed vehicle parking in the downtown core.

James Fryett Architect Inc. congratulates Newton Group Ltd. on the award of the design-build contract to construct our proposal for a 6 storey, 496 space parkade on the site between Wilson Street and Norfolk Street in Downtown Guelph. The structure will be Newton’s lightweight and efficient ‘Canadacar’ system.

The design features ample bicycle storage, maximized visibility and glazing within the stairwells and lobbies, and a largely brick exterior finish to respect the neighboring commercial and municipal buildings. The facility will comply with the latest accessibility and user safety requirements.

This is an exciting project and we are delighted that it is now underway. Construction is expected to begin in the spring of 2018.
