Architect Robert Turner and Junior Technologist Justin Crawford donned their hard hats and steel toe boots to join Newton Group Ltd. and the City of Guelph at the ground-breaking ceremony for the long awaited Wilson Street parking garage.
Excavation crews are now on site to commence construction of the 6 storey, 496 space parkade at Wilson Street and Northumberland Street in Downtown Guelph. The new parking structure will provide much needed vehicle parking for the downtown core and will also feature bicycle parking and electric vehicle charging stations. The facility will be fully Accessible, to the City’s exacting standards for public buildings.
The building utilizes Newton Groups’ lightweight, prefabricated ‘Canadacar’ parking structure system, but with a more traditional brick facade. Completion of the project is expected at the end of Summer 2019. To follow the project, you can look to the City of Guelph’s website or follow the hashtag #WeDigWilson.
