YWCA Lincoln Groundbreaking

Architect Carolyn Bilson of James Fryett Architect Inc. was pleased to attend the groundbreaking ceremony for the new YWCA Supportive Housing building at Lincoln Road, Waterloo. This well-attended event included speeches and cake at the neighbouring Lincoln Road Chapel followed by a balloon-led procession to 155 Lincoln Road for the official groundbreaking.

YWCA Kitchener Waterloo currently owns and operates a 46 unit apartment building on the property, containing a mix of 1, 2, and 3 bedroom apartments. The YWCA received funding to provide supportive housing for larger families requiring 4 bedroom units. Under the direction of Community Homes Group, James Fryett Architect Inc. designed the new building to accommodate four 4-bedroom apartments in a domestic-scaled building.

Completion is expected before the end of 2016.
